Gare, this idea of legacy really, turns on this.  Anything a person does or writes that exists in the world even for a short time can alter human history.  Even if physically no record exists, memories tend to be more durable.  and now with the internet in AI, what indeed shall ever be forgotten you know?  So the idea of someone, somewhere, coming across something any of us did while we were on the planet must be entertained.  Mustnt it.  And it may not be a totally inconceivable jump from there to think that when someone else does come across some traces of our own existence, a light goes on.  and either a spirit or a person gifted with the right powers, will be attracted to it.   Something like this was once expressed in an obscure long public domain preface to a book of verse which ended like this -   even the worst of these verses contained within, being not unworthy of being even temporarily preserved in a form that recalls the gratification the author experienced in writing and preserving them, may well be shared by someone else who reads them.  leave behind what you are moved to leave behind Gare. 
It is not for you to say if and when it might impact the future in some way.

Gare, returning now to the story in your head, Heather has been learning about her favorite authors life, particularly though during the writing of this favorite's first novel.  in addition to seeing what this author had that Heather will never quite grasp, the novel is called 'Beyond the Porchlight'.  The porchlight is a powerful metaphor for the light of human souls Gare.  Some people, those deeply in touch with spiritual matters, can, it is said, see these lights and are drawn to them, or draw other spirits who have passed to them.  Most of these spiritual people possess very bright porchlights of their own.  These people are called by some 'mediums'.  Some say that when the living encounter a work by a passed author for example, their porchlight grows brighter and the long dead author's soul is attracted to it.  So that if in the future after you've passed anyone takes note, your spirit will know and see the light.   In the story, some people living can also see the souls just beyond the porchlight, waiting in the darkness to be called.  You are aware, Gare, of just such an occurrence, in the west of where you live, where another Heather has seen the porchlight of the Heather in your story, the story in your head.   She saw herself in your story.  The west is out where the sun sets Gare.  Everyone has at least one such twin Gare, as the star sign of Geminii rises on its side but then sets feet first.  Castor and Pollux represent mortal and immortal Gare.  Twins Gare, Who is your twin?  Maybe you have many of them, the boundaries of space and time have rifts through which these lights can sometimes shine
